With a musical background rooted in Jazz, R&B and Rock, Sekou
Bunch
is breaking new ground with his latest project "The Next
Level."
Although primarily a jazz musician, Sekou has crossed over
into other genre's of music. His history as a bassist and performer
expands thirty years and has performed with the likes of Anita Baker,
Luther Vandross, Lionel Ritchie, Tom Browne, George Benson,
Michael Jackson, Roger Daltrey and Marc Anthony to name a few.
Sekou has proven with his latest release that he is a versatile
Artist/Musician who can deliver flavors of Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Funk,
Salsa and Caribbean rolled into one delectable musical dish
suitable to the most discriminating listeners. His versatility is
evident in bridging the gap between such musical styles.

On track number four,
"Smooth Sailing," guest Artist Angela
Winbush invites us to relax and unwind. Winbush delivers smooth
jazz vocals that sets the mood for romance. Saxophonist, Boney
James also makes an appearance with soulful sounds you will
love. On the track
"Purple Haze", Sekou gives the Classic Rock
tune Jimi Hendrix made famous, an edge that even he would be
proud of. This remake will surprise the unsuspecting listener into
it's colorful musical blends that listeners crave. This track delivers

John Coltrane's "Softly As The Early Morning Sunrise" with lyrics
written by
Sekou, delivers the signature sound of Be-Hop. On "Vu
Du"
, Sekou takes us on a journey of the unknown with a soulful
front that captures your attention. Percussionist Munyungo
Jackson brings this track alive with haunting effects that enhances
the sensuality. This original track is wickedly enticing and
imaginative that stimulate your senses along with other signature
tracks such as
"Hater's" which addresses the fashion-able, yet
unwise antic of hating. The bass lines are intense and serious in
it's presentation as if making a point.   Pianist George Duke lends
skills on
"The Return of Superman." Newcomer Brooke Lynn, an
up and coming vocalist expresses sincere sentiment in
"Don't
Take Too Long,"
an Adult Contemporary Cross-Over. Other tracks
to be heard, such as
"Funkabilly" breaks new ground of creative
genius merging Oklahoma (Hillbilly) style playing with Classical
and Funk. Drummer Will Kennedy, formally of The Yellow Jackets,
keeps the rhythm steady as lead violinist Mads Tolling (Grammy
Winner) and Karen Briggs deliver a riveting action-packed
performance resembling a musical maze of violins that will keep

the track, while Sheila E. makes an appearance and adds Latin percussion to spice things up. Other remakes include Dave Brubeck's
"Take
Five"
which has never sound so good. Sekou smooths out the edges and mellows it's demeanor in true smooth jazz fashion. The roundup of
remake compilations also include
"Sun Goddess"; a Ramsey Lewis creation which Sekou invites bassist Stanley Clarke to join him in a
shared effort to enrich bass textures that takes it up a notch to make it truly his own.

surprise, hang on until track number fifteen when Sekou pitches you a curve ball with a beautiful piece entitled "Un Paio Di Uccelli Canterini;"
A duet that features vocalist, Jennifer Goodman with
Sekou playing the bass ingeniously to mimic the sound of a piano. "The Next Level" is
clearly the one to be heard; inspiring the next level of music as well as excellence.
